How to advise lab test to patients ? 

Please follow these steps to advise lab test to patients : 

STEP -1 : Add patient incase its a new patient :

STEP -2 : Go to 'Patient EMR' and add an appointment (incase you have not already added it ) in the patient case sheet  :

STEP-3 :  Once an appointment has been created for the patient , please Click on the "+Add Lab Job" button as shown in the screenshot below :

STEP-4 : Now start adding 'Lab Test' or 'Lab Task' as required from the drop down as show in the screenshot below :

STEP-5 : You can even add your most used 'Lab Tests'/'Tasks' and they will be available on the right side which can be used to add with a single click as shown in the screenshot below :

PS-1 : Given your usecase is not only to advise lab test and but also collect samples to be sent to external lab hence you should always select the <External Lab Name>  (for example we have added 'Sample External Lab' in the screenshot below )  in the labs dropdown to which this sample has to be sent (as shown in the screenshot below ):

Once you are done simply click on the blue 'Save' button at the bottom right of the modal window . 

By default the status of lab tests will be 'advised'. Once added you will see the lab test in patient casesheet as shown in the screenshot below :

How to print/email advised lab tests and share with patients ? 

In order to share the advised lab tests with the patient , simple click on the 'Action' and it will provide you with options to view / print / email lab test to easily share with the patients as shown in the screenshot below :

How to print/email advised lab tests along with 'Prescription' and share with patients  ? 

Incase you have written prescription and you want to print/email prescription along with the advised lab tests then you can simply click on the 'Action' button on the right of 'Prescription' in the case sheet as shown below and it will provide the option to print only prescription or along with advised lab tests (and also with clinical notes . )

How to update status of samples sent to external lab in lab management system ?

Step-1 : Go to 'LAB' (lab management system) from the left menu in the healcon practice as shown in screenshot below :

Step-2 : Complete billing for the advised lab tests : 

Simply click on the blue 'Add Bill' link to complete the payment process before proceeding with next steps as shown in the screenshot below :

Step-3 :  Update status of the sample by clicking on the 'Action' --> 'Edit' button :

An edit modal to update 'Due Date' and  'Status' will open as shown in the screenshot below :

Status of the lab test can be either of following in this usecase : 

  • Advised This is the first status after addition of a lab job . 
  • Sample / Details Collected  : Status should be changed to this once sample has been collected from the patient . 
  • Processing / Sent : Status should be changed to this once samples have been dispatched to external lab for processing . 
  • Completed : Once you receive the reports from external lab , status should be updated to 'completed' and the reports should be updated as described in next section .

PS : We highly recommend keeping the status updated to ensure easy tracking of samples in future . 

 

STEP-4 : Upload lab report :

Simply click on the blue 'Add Report' link to upload lab report received from the external lab as shown in the screenshot below :

How to track status of samples sent to external lab in lab management system ?

 'LAB' module (lab management system) in healcon practice software is one single interface to update as well as track the status of lab tests, samples & reports . In order to know the current status of any lab test simply use following filter on the top :

You can filter lab tests by : 

  • Patient Name
  • Doctor Name
  • Status of Lab Test / Lab Job
  • Due Date
